Dell 1355CNW Printer Review

Overview
The Dell 1355CNW is a multi-function laser printer which is sold at a low enough price point to be accessible to virtually any home or small business user. There are plenty of laser printers on the market which are capable of higher levels of performance than the Dell 1355cnw, but the vast majority of them are more expensive; many of them substantially so. Because of this nice balance between capability and affordability, this printer will prove more than adequate for the vast majority of users. The only people who should look to other printers would be those who either need to print large jobs frequently or those who seldom need to print anything at all.
Pros
One of the pros of the Dell 1355CNW which we would like to point out is the fact that it's small. Laser printers can get large, sometimes requiring you to create new space in your home or office when you purchase one. While you may indeed need to do so even with this model, you will need significantly less space with this printer than with lots of other ones. Yet, despite its small size, it packs quite a punch in terms of its maximum monthly duty cycle. As a matter of fact, this printer can handle no less than thirty thousand pages per month without overheating or experiencing any other technical problems.
Another pro of the Dell 1355CNW is the very fact that it's multi-functional. Not only is it less expensive than a lot of other laser printers on the market, it's obviously also quite a bit less expensive than purchasing a printer, a scanner, a fax, machine, and a copier separately. When you remember its small size which we mentioned a moment ago, you realize that that it makes just as much of a difference in terms of space savings as it does in terms of financial savings. We should also note that the functionality of all of these devices will be available to your entire wireless network, too, thanks to this machine's WiFi capability.
Cons
If you're using the Dell 1355CNW in an office, or if you print a larger-than-average number of documents at home, then you will experience one of the things about this printer which we don't like very much. Its tray only holds one hundred sixty sheets, and you cannot purchase additional input trays. Another drawback is that this printer is more than a little slow. It's page-per-minute speeds of fifteen for black and white and twelve for color are well below the industry standard.

Computer's Performance: Make It Super-Fast, and Read How-tos!

It becomes an annoying situation when your desktop PC or laptop runs very slowly while you're doing an important task. Mostly due to improper maintenance, our Windows PC doesn't run in the same speed that it used to run when it was first used. Many users experience some applications taking much time to run, creepy downloading speed, and their computer hangs for a couple of seconds. Spending few minutes regularly for PC care, can result in a seamless performance. Check in some key points from this article that will help you boost your computer's performance.

Common Causes for a Failed DC Power Jack

A notebook receives its power through an internal battery which is charged via an adapter connected to the power jack, which is located on the side or back of the machine. If the socket should malfunction it can be difficult to impossible to charge the Lithium Ion battery. Noticeable signs of a non-functioning power jack are a loose-fitting socket, difficulty charging the notebook, and intermittent charging. A jack that seems to be failing is repairable by either someone competent with working on the internal components of a notebook or to guarantee a quality fix it benefits to use the services of a local computer repair shop.
Some of common causes for the power jack to fail consist of -
Not Giving the Right Care - a typical problem for a power jack to become defective is not caring for the notebook properly when on-the-go. Excessive knocking or bumping or not using the right type of laptop bag when traveling can result in a wide variety of problems, not just those related to the jack. If traveling to and from work with a notebook in tow, it is always wise to disconnect the power supply from the notebook. Leaving the power cord in place when traveling could soon lead to the socket being twisted or loosened which will soon cause this essential part to fail.
Defective Components - some of the popular notebook brands seem to have a higher occurrence of failures to this component due to a weak joint between the motherboard and the power port. Overtime everyday usage of a notebook has the potential to cause this soldered joint to fail, which causes the jack to loosen from its hold on the motherboard and restricts the ideal charging of the battery. Besides the soldered joints, a power jack can also be connected to the motherboard using multiple clips which can often give a more reliable hold.
Everyday Wear and Aging - for a notebook that is constantly on the move it will be necessary to remove and insert the power supply into power jack on an almost everyday basis. Although, this is considered as normal use, in time the port can fail due to this repeated pushing and pulling. However, for a notebook that is based for the majority of its time on a desk this type of problem isn't so much of a concern. Accidents, such as tripping over the power cord can also result in unwanted strain causing the jack to detach from the motherboard and fail.

Dell 2155CDN Printer Review

Overview
The Dell 2155CDN laser printer is an excellent product that is ideal for use in homes, medium sized businesses, and bigger ones that simply don't print that often. It boasts remarkable performance at a mid-market price. Obviously, if you search for them, there are other printers available that can outperform this one, yet it's also true that this model bests many other comparable devices. This Dell can surpass expectations, and you'll no doubt be happy with its performance. While there is a slight drawback in the form of print quality to price ratio, as you'll see, the benefits far outweigh that downside.
Pros
The Dell 2155CDN laser printer boasts a maximum monthly load of forty thousand pages. While that might not mean much to you, the fact is that most business users and a lot of home office buyers look at that number closely. What a maximum monthly load means is that this printer can produce forty thousand pages a month before experiencing overheating or other technical issues. Another feature that many potential buyers look at is the number of pages the printer tray can hold. This one boasts a larger than average number of two hundred and fifty sheets. Add in the ability to buy an additional tray, and this device can hold an entire ream of paper! While it's a minor inconvenience at best, it's refreshing not to have to add paper in the middle of a large job.
Even if you don't know much about the technical specifications of a printer, speed will most likely be a factor in your buying decision. No one wants to wait around a long time for their jobs to print. Luckily, the Dell 2155CDN boasts a speed of twenty-four pages per minute! Of course, with increased speed comes larger size. You can find printers that will be smaller, but they also print at a slower rate. Furthermore, since this product is really four devices in one (printer, copier, scanner, and fax), you'll still saving yourself space (and money) in the long run.
Cons
Now, every printer has its advantages and its disadvantages, and this one is no different. With the Dell 2155CDN, the ratio of print quality to price is worse than that of other similar products on the market. Other devices in the same price range can have a print resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch). This printer, however, has a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. Of course, it is also faster than these others, and it is also multi-functional, two factors you must consider.

Dell 2155CN Printer Review

Overview
The Dell 2155cn is a laser printer that offers many features that allow you to get the job done with value and execution. This printer offers features that are both good and bad. The good features include a sufficient printing speed, a big tray for holding paper, and 256MB of memory already installed. The bad features include being bulky and big in design and it does not offer duplex features that are automatic.
Pros
This printer does not offer the highest resolution that you see in other multifunctional printers, but it does produce pictures that are lucid, vivid, and have wonderful color at 600x600 dots per inch. This laser printer allows up to 40,000 pages per month, which is not meant to cause any damage to the printer or major wear and tear.
The printing speeds you would find on a normal printer are basically what you will find with the Dell 2155cn. It does print in both black and white and color, at a rate of 24 pages each minute. Since there is not an automatic duplex option available so the only way that you can print on both sides of the paper is to perform this function manually.
The Dell 2155cn does offer other options that improve the printers functioning ability. There is an Ethernet port which allows the user to network multiple computers to the printer. While there are not any built-in wireless options if does have a port for an external wireless device. It also has the ability to print from a flash drive or camera as it has a USB 2.0 port.
The laser printer comes equipped with a paper tray that will hold 250 pages. The ability to hold so much paper helps cut down on restocking frequently. The printer can use all kinds of paper from original and dense paper, envelopes, labels, postcards and coated paper. If you have paper that measures 8.5 x 14 inches, it can print on that as well. While it offers installed memory it is not Energy Star rated.
Cons
This printer takes up a large space as it is large and heavy. It measures in at 22.81 inches tall, 17.1 inches wide, and 21 inches thick, which is some of the greatest factors on a laser printer. Not only is it bulky but it weighs 66 pounds.
The control panel is set on the top of the device and has a small screen that will help you with the printer's options and settings. The printer has quite a few buttons, and the display panel makes it confusing to use.
While this laser printer offers many functions it does have its setbacks. These include duplex printing, largeness, and interface issues. But overall it does have a lot of functions that make it a very usable laser printer for an office. The ability to network and the large amount of installed memory is definitely a bonus on this printer. Also the ability to hold a large amount of paper makes it convenient.

How to Find Your Printer Manufacturer

With several printer brands having invaded the market, it is particularly hard to choose the best one. The problem is rather complex, since every manufacturer is now coming up with printers having the latest features incorporated in them, like the Continuous Ink Supply system and All-In-One printing. Some brands, however, stand out from other based on their price, features and reliability. The best way to figure out which manufacturer you should buy from is to go through the general features every manufacturer has to offer and, then, to review particular models.
Hewlett Packard
When it comes to affordable printers, HP has been regarded by many as the best value for money. These printers come in cheaper prices than most Canon and Espon models, thus being more easily affordable. The printers are highly reliable, with the most popular models being 7510 All-In-One and the Multifunction Laser-jet Pro series. The former is particularly popular due to the LCD touch screen. In general, HP printers are inexpensive, easy to set up and to use.
Epson
Epson is yet another common brand, with models available from as low as $50 up to $300. The most successful models, perhaps, are those in the Workforce Pro series. The printers have been rated to be easy to set up and simple to use, particularly due to their wireless function. The color printing capability has been particularly appreciated by users, as has the photo printing quality. Espon beats others with its warranty offers, which allows a replacement free of cost. Also, the printer ink is much more affordable than that of other manufacturers.
Brother
Brother printers are widely used, owing to the fact that they offer models priced as low as $99. With their affordability and automatic duplex, they have been widely preferred. The more costly models in the HL and Brother series are also particularly reliable. The printing is fast, with a good text output. Many users, however, have faced troubles with beginning to use their printers and complain of the set-up being complicated.
Canon
Considering ink jet printers, Canon printers are probably the fastest. From usual prints to professional photos, the results of Canon printers have been great. At average, Canon printers are priced higher than other famous ones like HP and Espon. These are, however, reliable and long lasting. From the 6-color Pixma series to photo printers like Canon Selphy, the printers are particularly durable, though some models, like the Pixma MG6150, have been accused of using enormous volumes of ink at every start-up and facing occasional pauses during printing.

How Does RAS Impact Your IT Environment?

RAS: Reliability, Availability and Serviceability. What does this term really mean? And how does it impact your IT environment at your company?
Reliability: Reliability refers the ability of your IT system to consistently perform according to its specifications. There should be features implemented to uncover and reveal faults in your computing equipment. A reliable computing system, whether it's your data servers or your data storage equipment should be able to detect corrupted data and instead of continuing to use bad data or worsen the problem, is able to alert you to the problem, and if your system is advanced enough, begin to repair the problem.
Availability: Availability is the amount of time your system is actually running versus the amount of time it is expected or required to perform. Different availability features allow your IT system to remain up and running even when there are failures or data corruptions found. It can also be expressed in terms of average downtime per week, month or year or as total downtime for a given week, month or year. Salespeople will often speak about availability in terms of slowed down systems (for instance, they will say your server can operate at 80% throughput capacity even if two data ports are down). A highly available system can disable a malfunctioning part and continue operating, at a reduced but still manageable capacity. A poorly available system might completely crash and be non-operational.
Serviceability: Serviceability addresses the ease with which a system can be repaired, maintained or serviced without critically impacting your ability to use the system while this is happening. Maintenance and repair should affect your system as little as possible, and a more serviceable IT environment can handle this work without causing disruption for users.
Some of the more commonly used methods to build RAS capabilities include:
Redundant power: Especially in large storage systems, AC power from two separate electrical loops is implemented to avoid complete power-downs should an electrical circuit in the building fail. In addition, many data storage systems will be delivered with two internal batteries that are powerful to last through a complete data recovery process should AC power fail from all external sources.
Duplication: The design of redundant systems and components is used to ensure that there is no single point of failure inside that could cause failure and loss of access to data.
Data backup: A key component of a fully enabled RAS environment, regular backup of your data to tape or disk library storage systems ensures that should something catastrophic happen to your primary IT environment, you still have a way to recreate and move forward with the customer data or business data that is vital to your company's operations.
Power-on replacement: A development that has come about in the past 10 years, being able to "hot swap" electrical components while the larger server or storage system is still running has drastically increased both availability and serviceability in the IT world. Individual faulty components like communication cards or power supplies can be powered down on their own when you require tape library repair service, swapped for fully functioning ones and then restarted to become part of the larger, functioning system again.
Over-engineering: Particularly in the area of mechanical failure (vibration, moving parts, temperature and voltage among others), over-designing to stay well within failure parameters creates a more robust and adaptable system. Designing systems to specifications better than minimum requirements allows for occasional exceptions where a machine is briefly exposed to too much vibration or an accidental temperature spike in the office that otherwise would cause an immediate failure.
A term that was originally coined at IBM to describe the robustness and superiority of their products, it has been adopted across the electronics world and can be used to discuss computing products with almost anyone these days. Be sure you're asking questions about the RAS side of any environment being designed, maintained or operated for your company's IT needs.

How the Number of Antennas Affect Wireless Router Performance (MIMO)?

At the time when Wireless vendors introduced the wireless router in market, most of the devices had one antenna. That means the single antenna would send and receive wireless signals. However, now it is the time of Multiple Input Multiple Output technology. In MIMO (short form of Multiple Input Multiple Output), AP (Access Point) is able to send and receive wireless signals over multiple antennas. This feature improved the efficiency of the Wireless router compared to traditional single antenna routers.
How the Number of Antennas Improves Signal Quality
There are many factors which affect quality of the signal. Those factors include:
1. Wireless Range
2. Interference
3. Echo handling
4. Wireless Bandwidth
1. Range
Range is a very important factor. To improve the wireless range of an Access Point either we can use a powerful antenna or use multiple ordinary antennas. experiments say it is wise to use multiple antennas instead of using single powerful antenna. Here MIMO plays a big role in increasing the signal-range as MIMO lets the AP use multiple channels.
2. Avoid Interference
We are using many devices which emit wireless signals. So there is a chance of interference which can badly affect quality of AP. Using multiple channels we can reduce the chances of possible interference with other wireless devices.
3. Echo handling
Another important point we should consider while using wireless router is the possibility of echo. Echo can reduce the performance of the device and the quality of the network. Echo badly affect the signal we receive and its quality will be less than actually it meant for. AP needs at least three antennas to reduce the effect of echo.
4. Bandwidth
MIMO has a vital role in improving the bandwidth.
Which Wireless Standards support MIMO
Practically IEEE802.11n standard supports Multiple Input Multiple Output Standard. So we can see all the multiple antenna routers belongs to wireless n standard. In addition to 802.11n, MIMO is supported by 4G, WiMAX, HSPA+ etc. It shows future technologies cannot avoid the use of Multiple Input Multiple Output technology.
Predecessors of MIMO
MIMO is not a Standalone technology. It comes from a set of standards. They are:
1. SISO
2. SIMO
3. MISO
In SISO (Single Input Single Output) AP does not have multiple channels to receive and send signal. In SIMO (Single Input Multiple Output) device can transmit signal through single channel only. MISO (Multiple Input Single Output) is opposite to SIMO where device can transmit though multiple channels. So we can see MIMO is derived by combining the SISO, SIMO and MISO standards.

Performance Analysis of ThinkPad X1 Carbon

On August 6, 2012, Lenovo Group held a world premiere activity for its new product, ThinkPad X1 Carbon, the first carbon fiber ultrabook in the PC industry. This represented the advent of the lightest 14-inch X1 Carbon in the world. On August 9, ThinkPad X1 Carbon began to accept bookings. In addition to inherit classic elements of ThinkPad, the brand new ThinkPad X1 Carbon has its own features: high quality-made of carbon fiber material, ultra-thin design with its minimum up to 8mm, IVB core processor and ultra-long standby time. This ultrabook called Black Macbook is priced 9699RMB in China, an unexpected price indeed.
Well, does the ThinkPad X1 Carbon perform well? Many tests on its performance have been made, and now we will analyze the data so that all of us can have a better understanding towards its performance.
ThinkPad X1 Carbon is equipped with Core i5-342U, Intel's new generation of IVB, and a 1.8GHz processor it can be boost to 2.8GHz by Turo). Besides, it possesses a 4GB DDR3-1600 memory, a 128GB SSD and a HD 4000 graphics.
Performance test
Processor:
Lenovo has 3 options in selecting the CPU for ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Intel Core I8-3667U, Intel Core I5-3427U and Intel Core i5-3317U. From the results of the tests we can see that the performance of the Core I5-3427U processor is in medium level among the current ultrabooks.
HD Graphics:
As HD 4000 graphics is a mainstream equipment of the current ultrabooks, it can meet basic needs for use although its performance is incompatible to those ultrabooks with single graphics.
PCMark Vantage:
It is obvious that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon ranks first or second in terms of PCMark Vantage. Both of its test results are on the leading position because of the effective assistance from SSD.
Battery Life:
The environment for testing ThinkPad X1 Carbon: adjust the screen brightness to 70%, open wireless network, and adjust the power management of Window 7 for balance. Under this circumstance, the battery keeps working for 5 hours and 56 minutes. The result reflects the fact that its battery life is merely stronger than its old version of X1. As the battery can't be replaced, can the up to 6 hours of working time support the use for a business trip?
According to the above test results, we can make the following conclusions. The performance of ThinkPad X1Carbon is above the average level. Although its CPU belongs to low voltage version, it works rather well. Meanwhile, the HD 4000 graphics is incompatible to those single graphics, but it meets the needs for HD video display and for mainstream games. In the PCMark Vantage, ThinkPad X1 Carbon performs very well with its test results at the top of the list. It is adequate to deal with office work. As for its battery life, I think its working life should be longer than 6 hours. As its working life can be affected by power equipments and working environment, I think it will be improved if Lenovo's power management software is applied after the ultrabook comes into the market.

Major Differences Between the Proliant DL320 G5 and G6

There is quite a bit of difference between a generation 5 Proliant DL320 and a generation 6. Both of these models are able to function in a network quite efficiently. Different generations of servers will have major differences while sharing the same model number. The differences between the HP Proliant DL320 G5 and the G6 are quite noticeable.
CPU and Memory are Enhanced
While the G5 version of the DL320 utilizes the Xeon 3000 series of dual-core processors, the G6 makes use of the Xeon 5500 and 5600 family of CPUs. These Xeons give the G6 two, four, or six cores per CPU to power through any task. While both of these servers use PC2-5300 ECC memory, the HP Proliant DL320 G6 puts 96GB to use. The G5 has a maximum capacity of 8GB. For a file server, or simple networking infrastructures, 8GB of memory could be plenty, but 96GB gives the server far more power to wield.
Increased Storage Capacities for Heavier Workloads
When comparing the DL320 G5 and the G6 for storage, you can see that the G6 has more than double the capabilities. In the G5, the maximum supported capacity is two 750GB SATA drives giving a total of 1.5TB. The HP Proliant DL320 G6 has capabilities to handle four LFF or eight SFF SATA hard drives. The SAS drive capacity limit is only two drives totaling 600GB in the G5. The DL320 G6 can handle four LFF or eight SFF SAS drives providing far more storage space.
Low Powered but Not Incapable
For a network that needs a simple server, the HP Proliant DL320 G5 has a good price for the capabilities. The dual Gigabit Ethernet ports make this unit able to adapt to most networking needs. In a small business network, the DL320 G5 could be at the right price for the needs of the facility. The dual-core processors, 8GB of memory, and 1.5TB of drive space is more than enough power for a file server and light duties.
Heavier Workloads Could Demand More
The HP Proliant DL320 G6 is ideal for a network that has more on its "to-do" list. With more than double the drive space, more than 10 times the memory, and more powerful CPUs this unit can power through where the G5 could fail.
